Original title: O que é de CésarWhen he decides to retire and live a new way of life, César, a sixty-year-old farmer, faces prejudice from his coworkers and the turmoil it brings to his marriage — and must find a balance between his desires and what society demands of him.
Shot in November 2023 in Joaçaba and Herval d’Oeste, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, Brazil, the short follows César, played by Marcos Oliveira, who decides to live his identity as a cross-dresser. Alongside his wife Maria (Berna Sant’Anna), he confronts the expectations of a rural community in transformation. A story about identity, affection and freedom in the countryside.
The film premiered on May 21, 2025, in a free screening at Teatro Alfredo Sigwalt, in Joaçaba, followed by a talk with director Marcos José and actress Berna Sant’Anna.
